About Nordscale
Nordscale is the specialist operator for mission-critical AI data centres. We manage the operations that keep AI compute sites running reliably, efficiently, and safely. Founded as a strategic partnership between the AI hyperscaler Nscale and Norwegian energy company Nordkraft, we harness local expertise and data centre operations experience to deliver service excellence to our customers, while building skilled local jobs and partnering with Norwegian businesses to create lasting value in the regions where we work.
Our culture combines local Northern Norwegian values, international expertise, and disciplined operational excellence. We’re a team built on trust, ownership, and collaboration: we communicate openly, take accountability for outcomes, and work as one team across sites, partners, and functions to deliver performance people can depend on.
About the Role (Job Purpose)
As IT Lead, you will establish and run Nordscale Operations’ internal IT function in Narvik. As our first internal IT appointment, you will initially focus on hands-on operations and employee support, working closely with our external IT provider. You will also collaborate across functions within the organisation, beyond day-to-day user support.
The scope covers internal corporate IT and access to partner systems. As the organisation grows, your responsibility will expand towards IT strategy.
What You’ll be Doing (Responsibilities)
Run day-to-day IT operations: configure PCs and software, support users, and manage onboarding, accounts, access, and single sign-on across internal and partner systems.
Establish IT policies and procedures for cybersecurity, data protection, and business continuity; implement Nscale’s configuration and security requirements with site leadership and external specialists.
Manage equipment and software procurement, licences, asset lifecycles, and relationships with IT vendors and service providers.
Deliver upgrades, migrations, and technical refreshes; monitor performance, uptime, and user experience; and develop compatible, scalable infrastructure and support services.
About You (Skills, Qualifications & Experience)
You may be an experienced IT consultant, systems administrator, or operational IT professional ready to build a function. Experience in or supporting larger organisations with several partners is valuable; previous senior IT leadership experience is not required.
You enjoy practical work, connect technical decisions with longer-term business needs, and keep up to date with technology trends.
Key Characteristics
Self-driven and structured, taking ownership of decisions, priorities, and outcomes.
A service-oriented problem-solver who identifies risks and preventive measures.
Collaborative across teams and partners, with the ability to explain technical matters clearly to non-technical colleagues.
Skills & Qualifications
Solid hands-on experience across networks, infrastructure, cloud services, software administration, user support, and account and access management.
Good working knowledge of cybersecurity, data protection, and compliance, including implementing policies and procedures.
Experience with IT assets, procurement, licences, and vendors, plus upgrades, migrations, and scalable service improvements.
Fluent Norwegian and English, written and spoken. Relevant IT management, systems administration, or cybersecurity certification is desirable, not required.
What We Can Offer You
Competitive salary and performance-based bonus.
The opportunity to build an internal IT function, combining practical technical work with a path towards broader strategic responsibility.
Relocation support assessed individually, if required.
