Nofence is a Norwegian scale-up that has built the world’s first virtual fencing solution for livestock. As we aim to revolutionise livestock management, we will need top-notch competence in our Engineering team, and we are now looking for an Electronics Engineer.
The product is small, solar-assisted and combines GNSS, LTE, Bluetooth, and many other technologies, so every design decision is a system integration problem. Join the NPD team that takes it from concept to pilot production.
What you’ll do
Design schematics and PCB layouts, and review designs with the team
Bring up new boards, subcircuits and reusable modules
Test and validate hardware from first prototype to pilot production
Build lab setups and find root causes when things break
Work with the embedded team on low power consumption. On a solar-powered device, every microamp counts
What we’re looking for
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering or similar
Boards you have taken from schematic to working hardware, and a story about what went wrong on the way
Strong fundamentals: analogue, power and digital design, signal integrity, EMC basics, power optimisation
Confidence with oscilloscope, spectrum analyser, DMM and PCBA debugging and testing
Experience with a professional PCB CAD tool. We’re moving from Altium to KiCad.
Fluent English
Nice to have
RF and antenna design
Experience with integrating GNSS, LTE or Bluetooth in a single device
Complex electromechanical products in harsh environments
CE, FCC and ISED certification
Python for test scripting
What we offer
Short path from idea to impact: you’ll see your work in the field
Visits to customers and their animals, to see how the product lives in reality
Room to grow towards senior or specialist roles
Location: Trondheim or Molde
About the Application
We will evaluate candidates continuously. If you have any questions about Nofence or regarding the application, please reach out to our Engineering Manager, Kjetil Grimsæth.
About Nofence
Managing livestock has always been a challenge. Humanity has tried everything from herding with dogs to walling the animals in with barbed wire, electric, and wooden fences, but these are costly and time-consuming solutions and often in conflict with the local wildlife. It has also left vast areas of potential pasture overgrown and underutilized.
Until now.
Enter virtual fences. What started as a small group of farmers and engineers with a big idea has become Nofence – the world’s first virtual fencing solution for livestock.
What we bring to the table
At Nofence, we're not your typical 9-to-5 gig. We're a dynamic scale-up, creating a work atmosphere that's anything but ordinary. It's a place where dedication and innovation are the norm, offering great opportunities for your personal and professional growth.
We believe in seeing results fast. As an engineer with us, your work won't be lost in the bureaucratic shuffle. You'll witness the immediate impact of your contributions in real-time, influencing the evolution of our cutting-edge virtual fencing solution for livestock.
Join us, where ambition meets reality, and let's keep pushing the boundaries in the world of agri-tech!
