About the position

We invite applications for a full time permanent position as Associate Professor in Clincal Pharmacy at the Section for Pharmaceutics and Social Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy, University of Oslo.

About the Department and what we are looking for in this position

The Department of Pharmacy at the University of Oslo is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, and innovative researcher with strong collaborative and educational skills.

The Department has a strong interdisciplinary environment that covers the key areas of the pharmaceutical field. Cutting-edge research, extensive national and international collaboration, and an integrated Master’s programme in Pharmacy position the Department as a key contributor to the development of pharmacy in Norway. We place strong emphasis on collaboration with the healthcare sector, regulatory authorities, as well as the pharmaceutical industry.

The Section for Pharmaceutics and Social pharmacy is one of the three sections at the Department of Pharmacy and is comprised of strong research groups specializing in clinical pharmacy, as well as pharmacoepidemiology and pharmaceutics. The section offers an active and dynamic academic environment, ideal for ambitious researchers. The research environment (Clinical pharmacy - Department of Pharmacy) focuses on patient safety, medication use, and continuity of care, supported by methodological expertise spanning from qualitative studies to randomised trials, as well as health care innovation and strong collaboration with healthcare partners in the Oslo region.

The life science environment in the Oslo region is developing steadily, supported by collaboration between the pharmaceutical sector, the university hospital and hospital pharmacy, and academic institutions. Oslo Science City and the new Life Science Building are central initiatives contributing to this development. The Department of Pharmacy is relocating to the new Life Science Building in 2026 (Life Science building- UiO:Livsvitenskap). This move will provide modern facilities designed to strengthen research, teaching, and collaboration across the health and life science disciplines at the University of Oslo.

The ideal candidate will play an important role in shaping the department’s activities in the new Life Science Building by contributing to the development of pharmaceutical sciences within a strong interdisciplinary environment. In particular, the candidate is expected to strengthen research and academic activity to contribute to the research group’s collaboration with healthcare partners and other research groups. Documented experience with interdisciplinary work and international cooperation is highly desirable.

The successful candidate should have documented independent research experience in addition to the PhD degree with publications in international peer review journals. Furthermore, the candidate should have a documented history of securing significant external funding, or at least strong funding application efforts.
